I created this challenge to see if anyone would like to read this list of books with me. The original announcement post which explains more is –> HERE <–. According to an interview of John Cusack for Oprah.com, these books were most influential to him and I had only read:
To Kill a Mockingbird
By Harper Lee
The other books are:
Fear and Loathing: On the Campaign Trail ’72 – March 2010 (my preview)
By Hunter S. Thompson
Chronicles: Volume One
By Bob Dylan
The Great Thoughts
Compiled by George Seldes
The Shock Doctrine
By Naomi Klein
Franny and Zooey – June 2010 (my review)
By J.D. Salinger
Tropic of Cancer √ – May 2013
By Henry Miller
Rites of Spring
By Modris Eksteins
Titles in RED mean that I have since read these books. If the title is GREEN, it means that I have the book in-house.
There is no deadline! This is a perpetual challenge. If you want to join along with me, feel free. If you have any thoughts to share about ANY of these books, please leave me a comment. If you have reviews, please list in the comments, as well. Thank you.

Ooooh! I’m in! I had recently decided to read Franny & Zooey anyway, and The Shock Doctrine and HST books have been on my list for far longer than I’d care to admit. It may take me awhile, but I’m TOTALLY in. Awesome idea!!
Oh my God, Care, I never saw this. Are you a fellow Cusack Groupie? I’m beyond excited that he enjoyed “Franny and Zooey”–one of my favorite books of all time. I’m IN on this challenge even if I’m not sure when I’m going to do it.
