You have seen a lot of movies. These lists always puzzle me because I often think that some great movies are left off and others should not be on the list.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the movies. maybe more than books.

Really? I have to see Edward Scissorhands? I’ll think about it.

It seems like we do have similar taste! :)

It’s really not up to me to dictate your shoulds, but YES! I think you will be charmed, really.

Hmmm… what about movies you fell asleep halfway through (Goodfellas, Children of Men)? Or movies you think you might have seen but you’re not sure (The Piano, Drugstore Cowboy)?

You fell asleep in Children of Men!? and I have to look up that cowboy flick – it isn’t ringing any bells. The Piano was quite moving though and hardly forgettable. It’s funny, isn’t it – everyones opinions about the best or worst movie?

    I loved Edward Scissorshands!

There are lots of lists out there. I’m really enjoying these.

Nicole, do you agree that this movie is NOT like a Halloween movie and Wordlily should see it? I enjoy the lists, too. Obviously.

I think The Live of Others is the English title of the German movie Das Leben der Anderen which won some big prizes in the last couple of years. It was also nominated for (won?) the Academy Award for best foreign movie. I have heard lots of good things about this movie, even my parents went to see it in the movie theater, which means something as my dad goes to the movies once every two decades or so (read: never!).

hi, IMDB.com was acting up when I was looking for this flick. I admit, my US-centric thinking had me wondering why a few foreign flicks were on this list – but flipping that thought, it ALSO makes me wonder why so many other good foreign flicks didn’t make it. Ah, lists – always subjective! Thank you for pointing this out. I used to try to watch ALL the nominees for Oscars, otherwise I forget to seek out good films from other countries. Shame on me.
