This week we are inspired by ANIMALS.
Share books (fiction or nonfiction) and/or movies which center around an animal or animals.
First, I am hoping to read this
next. All I know is that Michelle loved it (and many other bloggers) and that it is narrated by a dog.
Second, here is my favorite photo of my dog, Oscar:

Third, I’m trying to remember any latest books I’ve read about an animal… Must have been this one:
Almondine was my favorite character. And, I read this:
I see a DOG theme!

I haven’t read any of those books, but your dog is too cute!!!
Thanks, I’m smitten with my pup.
Oscar is just plain adorable. I hope to read The Art of Racing in the Rain soon, too!
Oscar IS adorable, I agree.
Thought I should pop over and see where you are hanging out!
I haven’t read these books about dogs – but one of my favourite childhood books was “The incredible journey” – about 2 dogs and a cat who travel over 300 miles to find their owners. I was enthralled by it and I think it was the start of my love for and empathy with animals.

As a young adult I loved the collection of books written by Derek Tangye about cats – I read them and then felt compulsed to have cats of my own for the first time. I’ve since had a lifelong adoration of cats.

My own cats have their own blog:

Yep, I know, I’m nuts! But who cares!
Why Jan, this comment would make a LOVELY post all its own for this week’s Weekly Geeks…
Your great post reminds me that I had some vague plans about taking up this theme. Crime & animals – could certainly be done.
I am not sure I have the time this week, however, and I have just done a theme about crime & archaeology. More dusty I am afraid.
By the way, I have something for you on my blog
The Art of Racing in the Rain sounds awesome. It looks like something that would be great to read. I’m a huge dog fan and a book narrated by a dog sounds great. I read Marly and Me and really enjoyed it. I haven’t seen the movie yet and really don’t think I will.
I haven’t read any of your books or seen the movie but the picture of your dog is worth the whole post. He is so CUTE. Hope you and he are good to each other.
I have read the begining of Marley and me. My mother in law has a boy lab like Marley. He’s a handful. He was arrested by police for stopping a train by standing on the tracks. He is something else he is.
Oh Care, thanks for the link! Yes I did love this book and I know that you will too, seeing as you have a dog of your own… I love Oscar! He is just too cute!
Dorte, THANKS! for the award. Is this ‘crime & animals’ going to be a Challenge?
Thatsthebook, so many good reviews of The Art of Racing… I don’t think I’ll go out of my way to see Marley&Me the movie but my hub will prob want to see it.
Margot, Oscar is my baby. We do pet-therapy at a nursing home, which to be honest is NOT his passion but he is well-loved. (He’s more interested in finding the cat that lives there also.)
Shannon, something about the yellow labs – they seem to have that ornery streak.
Michelle, I know I’ve read some great reviews of this but your personal recommendation on goodreads did it, I think. come to think of it, tho, I might have won it from Softdrink… oh goodness, I better check where I got it!
Hello Oscar? Are you in there? The bangs are a getting a little long there buddy.
I still think you’re handsome, though! And stick close to Care when she reads Racing in the Rain. Tell her two woofs…she’ll know what we’re talking about after she reads it.
I’ll make sure Oscar gets this message. Thanks
I wuv him (seriously I’m like ‘normal’ women are around babies when it comes to dogs).
Marley and me was fab, the book almost brought me to tears, but the film was more about the people – I wanted more dog.
Marley&Me the book did bring me to tears. Just not sure I need to do it again on the big screen. Thanks for stopping by! I like your blog.
hilarious–your dog looks like he’s donning a wig! love him. do you every put his hair back in a pony tail like pebbles? lol.
Yes, Oscar is funky-lookin’. I’m going to be a good mother and take him to the vet today – he has a tummy ache? I think? all night long, he paced and paced and panted and licked and didn’t sleep so nobody else did either… RRRrrrrrr. I feel worse right now than I did at the end of the Read-A-Thon.
Oscar looks great…its like he’s modeling!
Yes, his image is important to him.
