Care-ing For Lobsters

Quote by Henry J. Tillman

The world is my lobster.

I collect lobsters.

You know, when someone says, “My crazy mother-in-law collects hippos,” or your sister collects little frogs, or a friend collects pigs with wings.   I have  a neighbor who collects anything with flamingos.       I think a few book bloggers I know collect cat figurines, etc.

I used to have a few more than I do now, and have even stopped buying kitchen things with lobsters (I have 20+ towels, I think.)    I’ve totally banned dishes with lobsters  – I’m focusing now on ORNAMENTs.    and bottle openers.    and still maybe some towels if they’re REALLY cute…

And, no, it is NOT a New England thing.  It’s a me thing.     (I’m not native New England – I grew up in Kansas.)

[A]ll the ingenious men, and all the scientific men, and all the fanciful men, in the world,… could never invent, if all their wits were boiled into one, anything so curious and so ridiculous as a lobster.

Jimmi did good – I love the pj’s.

Believe it or not, this is the second set of lobster jammies that I’ve been blessed with thanks for my good friend JR.

For me, it’s turtles. And for some reason the headless pajama pic was bit creepy. Very halloween to me.

Oh goodness! I didn’t mean to creep you out!

My thing is salamanders. I end up with an assortment of gifts in the shape of chameleons, geckos, iguanas, etc., given by well-meaning friends and family who are not interested in the distinction between reptile and amphibian, but I think all similarly shaped creatures are quite cool. But my secret true love is the salamander.

Salamanders, huh? I like it – I like the hard to find unique collections.

Those Christmas trees are too cute! I don’t have a thing, but I’m sure I’ll develop one at some point.

That’s ok, sometimes they just happen.

These days I feel like I am just collecting clutter :)

Lobsters are quite unique, Care! I collect houses; paintings with houses in them, porcelain houses, little wooden houses (but not dollhouses). I have a little cardboard Christmas Village from the 50′s. I have so many houses that I don’t know what to do with them!

Houses! I love the lighted villages as much as my husband loves the train sets. Neat.

Those are among the coolest ornaments I’ve ever seen :D Love the pajamas too.

I just found another lobster ornament on Tuesday! I’m wrapping it and putting it in my stocking. It amuses the husband that I pretend I get gifts from Santa.

    Lobsters… I love it!

Hubby and I collect nail clippers. When we first combined households we realized that between the two of us we had half a dozen or so, which we thought was pretty hilarious. And then we were on a road trip and we were in Nashville and there were nail clippers in the shape of a guitar and we couldn’t resist and suddenly we couldn’t travel anywhere without coming home with more souvenir nail clippers… I know it’s weird but hey, we actually use them.

Yes, this is a unique collectible. Which makes it more fun when you find one, huh? I can’t say I’ve ever noticed souvenir clippers, before but now if I do, I’ll think of you. (Which is the best part!)

That’s awesome! I had no idea you collected lobsters – how fun! :)

It is fun and more than a little crazy.

OMG, lobsters, what a glorious thing to collect! I absolutely love it. :) I don’t really collect anything, outside of books. Although, wait, I have a small collection of Eiffel Tower figurines (one on my bookshelf, I leave my wedding ring on it at night), two that are currently on the Christmas tree, and one that’s actually a lamp. Husband proposed there so it’s kind of a romantic thing to have them all around.

    LOVE those lobster jammies!

Ah, little Eiffel Towers! VERY ROMANTIC place.

This is awesome :) I used to collect pigs, but had to pare down now that I have a small apartment. I still have a few though, they make me smile.

Yes, that’s the point, I guess.

Hahaha! Those pj’s are soooo cute!!! Um, what do I collect? Books? And, everything else you can think of, I suppose. We’re working on a major purge because, frankly, we’ve been in this house way too long and it’s exploding at the seams. Too, too much stuff. I’m a trinkety person, but trying to change. Oh, Beastmomma said it better! That’s me, collecting clutter.

These are some wonderful lobsters. Do you like to eat them, too?

This is great! Thanks for pointing me to the lobster explanation. I collect ornaments but only from places to which I travel – no lobsters yet!

Your lobster mascot made you very memorable at BBC~
