MUSIC!! Help?

My husband loves me.   He gave me my birthday present early (if you’ve been keeping track, it’s coming up in less than 3 weeks.)

and it is MUSIC!   Specifically, a gift certificate for the Melody Tent in Hyannis MA, Cape Cod.

I already know that we are going to go see B.B.King which I think will be my 4th time to see this amazing man.

But, I will still have money left over!   That’s why I need your help.  (Karen?!)  I can’t decide who else I would like to go see.

Feel free to visit the Melody Tent website list of events for the summer by clicking here, and let me know which one YOU would want to see!

I kind of like Lyle Lovett… Blondie would be awesome, yes? Absolutely NO to Ashlee Simpson. But what about Susan Tedeschi?! Her husband, Derek Trucks, plays with the Allman Brothers! I don’t think I want to see comedy, and the kids stuff is definitely out. Anyone, anyone? Beach Boys – nah, but Huey Lewis and the News? MAYBE. I’m curious about Ani DiFranco. I can’t stand Michael MacDonald because I can’t stand his voice. Which probably rules out Kenny Rogers. But, what about Tony Bennett?

I’m thinking about moe. Why? Because I’ve never heard of them (I live under a rock?)

Apparently, they do this song: very well!

I’m taking suggestions.   THANKS!     (happy birthday to me, happy BIRTHDAY Dear Care… happy birthday to me!)

OK! I have gone over the schedule and here are my picks. I first pick would be to see The Indigo Girls. I saw them at Wolf Trap a few years ago and they are great. Lyle Lovett & His Large Band would be awesome live too. I have all of their live cd’s and they are entertaining and fun. It’s like Country meets up with Harry Connick Jr’s Band with amazing back-up singers who get to solo too.
Vince Gill’s acoustic show would also be fantastic! What a musician and what a voice! Tony Bennett would be cool but his voice ain’t what it used to be. Huey Lewis & The News… HELL YA!! I LOVE them! Melissa Etheridge has always been fantastic on award shows performing live. Blondie’s voice has aged and though my hubby LOVES them from their hay day, he gets uncomfortable seeing them in live performances on tv now. They there’s one of my favorite singers from the 80’s… Belinda Carlisle!!! We saw her and the Go-Go’s right after she did Playboy in 2001 and they were great! Her ovice has stood up to the aging process well.
I hope these reviews help! Let me know which one you pick and enjoy B.B. King!!!!

happy birthday, and thanks for stopping at me blog!

my suggestion, jersey girl that i am — i would definitely hit the little feat/southside johnny show. i heart southside — it’s bluesy rock and roll that takes you to the boardwalk in NJ where bruce would go back in the days when his music had a little more sense of humor (and i say that as someone who loveloveloves bruce.) and little feat is just a great fun time!

    enjoy, whatever you do!

Care, you had mentioned Susan Tedeschi and I would say definately see her but I didn’t see her name on the list. If forgot to put that in my previous comment but I was on my out for a very very busy morning.
    XOXO-K

    Care,
Lyle Lovett is great in concert, and he’s really funny too, so he’d be the safe bet. Tony Bennett would probably be good too.

If I were to choose a younger bunch, it’d be Plain White T’s. They’re fun to listen to.

Since no one else did, I have to put in a vote for Marc Cohn. Awesome pianist, song writer and singer! Our “first dance – wedding song” was his ‘True Companion’ from his first album released in 1991.

Thank you Bop! I don’t really know him but I LOVE that song Walking in Memphis! I will put him on my list, thank you.
