Weekly Geeks Week Two

I have nothing for this week’s Weekly Geeks.

If I understand it correctly, the idea is to link other weekly geek reviews to any review you are writing on a book(s) that also has other geeky reviews your readers might also want to read.   Right.

Since I haven’t finished any books lately and only have a negative review I’m rather put off by the task of writing, I’m going to pass on this week’s theme.   Maybe I’ll get around to picking a sidebar widget (LOVE THE ONE YOU PICKED CHARTROOSE!) or …   go back and read my book.

I did do something though in studying for this non-post…  I did the WordPress Search for the title I’m reading and got only old stuff and nothing, I don’t think, from our little fun club’s members.

If I’m wrong about that and/or you are a non-WordPresser with a recent review of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers that you would like me to link to when I get around to reviewing and/or have any opinion on this topic and/or just want to say hi, well, please do leave a little comment.

And have a nice day.

I’m not a Geek (yet) but the way I understand it is that if anyone else has reviewed a book that you reviewed, you put a link to their review on your review. I don’t know if you have to go and do a search- what I’ve seen others do is list the books they’ve reviewed and then ask your commenters to let you know if they’ve reviewed any of the same books. If they have, you put a link to their review on yours. Make sense?

I think Lisa’s right, but I did a quick search in my Google Reader and the only review I came up with is Raych’s: http://booksidoneread.blogspot.com/2007/06/heartbreaking-work-of-staggering-genius.html

Glad you like the button – that’s one of the buttons I made for Dewey!

Thanks for your comment on my button that Stephanie did (thanks, Steph)! It’s the best of the bunch. You know, I don’t think I’m going to do this weekly geek. It seems like too much work. Don’t I sound awful even saying this? I noticed that Chris over at “Stuff as Dreams are Made On” did it with his last review.

Well, I’ll think about it. Maybe later…

I think that Lisa and Trish are correct. Is it okay if I look through your past reviews and link them to mine? I know that we have a few in common because of Planet Books.

Wow! this is exciting! Come in and check the ol’ blog and see so many comments! woo hoo! That makes up for no one citing my blog as being cool enough for week 1 [I'm "boo hoo-ing." Isn't that a fun expression? stick out bottom lip and say it. One of the centenarians at the nursing home said that to me when I asked her how she was.]

Now, back to GeekWeek2… Thanks belong to above who offered assistance on what this is really all about. BUT… this does sound like a lot of work! I usually don’t ask permission when I find a cool review that I want to share – have I been impolite? Go back and look through my old reviews and then look for OTHER reviews and rebuild my posts? All the same, great idea but I only commit to doing it in the future. I’m still trying to remember to link to my reviews when I list what book I read in my Past Tense page.

I admire BeastMomma for her post on this. VERY IMPRESSIVE. WELL DONE.

Of course, all are welcome to link to any and all posts of mine that you want to!

In humble gratefulness for all the attention,
    -Care

I keep thinking about being a geek (okay, more of a geek than I already am), but I have yet to drum up the energy needed to read a post, then other posts, then write a coherent blog entry that links elsewhere (like week one did). So for now, I’m just gonna live vicariously through you all.
And you know you can link to me any ole time you want, right? I don’t care. Heck, I love the attention. :-D

Living vicariously is fun, isn’t it! Thanks for the blanket permission. I’ll have to go update the I’jaam review now.
