As the wind howls and rain slams against the house, I sit cozily at my PC while the dog lazily sleeps by the fire. I need to call Mr. PF – my contact for my next book club opportunity.
CHOICE C in previous post – tell about new book club and ask for HELP!
I take my pup to one of the area nursing homes and had asked the activities director (Mr. PF) if he thought any of the residents would be interested in a book club. He said he would ask around and he left a message the other day, that YES! two of the ladies would be interested!
I called and he wanted me to come in NOW. Well, some mornings, I don’t “get pretty” unless I’ve got something on the schedule, and this day (Monday) I was in no condition to jump and run over to talk with him/them right that second. He said to call the next day. Which I didn’t do.
Eek. cower, sheepish look on face. What a bum, I am! The day got away from me, what can I say?
Now, today, the 2rd day after the COME-RIGHT-NOW (come hither? STOP! request, I’m looking out the window to the messy icky weather.
I better shower first; before I call him,” I think to myself. “What if he wants me to come right away!? WHY CAN’T HE SET A TIME – a distant time that would allow me to ‘get ready!?”
Which is one reason why I didn’t call him yesterday. I guess I’m not as spontaneous, as I like to think I am.
Where was I? BOOK CLUB! I need some book suggestions for me and two elderly ladies to read? I suppose, I should go meet with them and find out what they like to read, what topics might interest them, etc. But I think it might also be nice to have some titles in mind when I do this.
Which is also one of my stumbling blocks to make this call.
You know what they say? When you don’t have enough to do? Nothing gets done. And it’s corollary: If you want something done, give it to a busy person.
OK – I’m off to take a shower and MAKE THAT CALL. Happy Wednesday, Everyone!
