Whatcha Readin’?

From Lisa at Books on the Brain:   Tagged for a meme that is SO APPROPRIATE for the theme of this blog!

1. Whatcha reading?    mayflower_bk.jpg  Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick

2. How much of it have you read so far?    I think I’m not quite to page 50 but the first part of the journey has started and they had to abandon one ship already and haven’t even left site sight of England…  they are now all about to crowd into the Mayflower and they KNOW they don’t have enought food stocked for a long trip!

3. What’s it about? (in a nutshell! A sentence or two is enough)    “A Story of Courage, Community, and War”      This book is about the group of Pilgrims who leave England in 1620 to colonize in America.

4. What does the title refer to?     The title refers to the ship that brought them to New England.

5. Would you recommend it?  so far, yes!   The author is taking no time at all to get to the story!    Just barely a glimpse into the personalities, lots of names but I’m not lost.  yet.

Almost!

I’m almost back to full-computing power!   I have to pick up the now-healthy PC from the fixer-upper-dude and then, I’ll be back to wasting time on this internet thing…

I thought I had missed a day but it seems I have not!   That is why I moved the calendar up to easy viewing from the Home page…  to help remind me how WELL I’m doing on this post-every-day goal.

Today’s Prompt from Holidailies.org

“What are your memories about visiting, taking kids to visit, or seeing others visit Santa at the mall? “

Well…   TODAY is Oscar-Visits-Santa Day!  or Santa visits Oscar’s DayCare…   Anyway, I hope he poses well…   The last time we had a visit from Santa (at a neighborhood party), Oscar was quite upset at the red velvet-clad dude and barked continuously.

I, personally, don’t remember believing in “Santa” (except when emptying the stockings on Christmas morn…) and do not recall sitting on his lap.  I probably cried…    I had big fear of ’strangers’ as a little kid.

I prefer pi.
